Transmorphicationalshiftolution

Six recent photographs featured in a group exhibition.

Curated by Jessica Harvey and David Lambert, Transmorphicationalshiftolution is a group exhibition of recent works from the Photography studios at Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Change is all around us--in life, at the Academy, in Michigan, and in the world. Certainly the state of photography is undergoing profound technical and conceptual shifts. This exhibition brings all of the transformative influences of contemporary photographic practice, process, exhibition, and ideas together through the collective vision of fifteen photographers. While many studios at Cranbrook have prepared for the changes they have experienced recently, the photography studio has a unique perspective on change--change unexpected. Some of the work will show how we respond to change over long periods of time and some work will show the immediate need to respond to change. The collection of work will also examine the good will and fortitude that can only come together in a place as tranformative as Cranbrook Academy of Art. At once, this exhibition draws upon the types of change mentioned but most importantly, the evolution of artistic practice at Cranbrook inspires metamorphosis in how we create, look at, and live with images.

The exhibition run from 30 November 2007 through 5 December 2007 at Cranbrook Art Museum's Forum Gallery.
